Bihl Haus Arts hosts an On and Off Fredicksburg Road Art Studio Tour. People get to visit local artists studios in the Fredericksburg Rd. area and check out current art. Corazones on Fire Painting with a Cultural Edge not only opened it's doors to the public, it also hosted a performance of Curandera, an art installation by Debora Kuetzpal Vasquez and performance piece by Zombie Baazar and yours truly.
Corazones on Fire ~ Painting with a Cultural Edge opened it's doors June 4, 2016. The amazing and talented Debora Kuetzpal Vasquez and myself are the owners of this studio. I performed with Giomara Bazaldua, the director of Zombie Baazar Panza Fusion. This is me singing and Giomara working her fire magia in front of our space!
This was an artistic collaboration between the amazing Chicana artist, Debora Kuetzpal Vasquez, Zombie Baazar Panza Fusion, Pablo Mancias, Carlos de la Garza Sanchez, Esteban Ramirez, Giselle Vasquez, and myself. The whole installation, music, and dances were based off of Debora's vision she had of Maria Sabina, the world renowned Mazatec healer in the face of her mother. This is a vision plucked from Debora's 4 year old world. This is what magic is made of...
The City of San Antonio hosted it's first Queer Family Fair at the Historical Market Square. This event had musical performances and booths with information and resources for LGBTQIA folks.
On July 26th Veronica Castillo, internationally renowned ceramicist, opened her new workspace and gallery on the Southside of town. We are all very excited and proud of Vero. The nite was amazing all the way around. What made my night though was when I sang a few songs with the super talented conjunto music icon, Eva Ybarra. It is always a surreal experience for me and am very honored that I get to sing with her. :)
If you are a part of a San Antonio neighborhood association or non- profit organization and are looking to provide a unique cultural experience for your neighborhood and/ or institution, then please check out this link. Had a wonderful time at La Biki's birthday dinner. Sang a couple of songs tonight for the birthday girl. Love you Biki and thanks for the invite!
Dia de Los Muertos is my favorite day of celebration. I'm preparing a few songs for this special occasion.
This show was a one woman exhibit of Debora Kuetzpal Vasquez's new work. These pieces were created specifically for this exhibit in Habana, Cuba, May 2018. I created songs for this exhibit to help tell Debora's life story.
